Mindfulness for Cancer
Mindfulness for Cancer Hong Kong
Service Description
Mindfulness and Cancer 3 x 45 minute sessions Living with cancer can bring with it a whole range of emotions, from uncertainty and fear to exhaustion and overwhelm. It is easy to feel pulled into the future, worrying about what might happen next, or caught up in the past, replaying conversations and appointments. Mindfulness offers a simple, grounded way of meeting what is here in the present moment, gently turning towards our experience with curiosity and kindness. It doesn’t ask us to be positive or to make anything go away, but instead to steady ourselves, breathe, and recognise that there is a place within us that can be calm, even in difficult times. Mindfulness can support people as they navigate treatment, waiting, and recovery, helping to reduce anxiety, improve sleep, and soften the impact of stress. It invites us to reconnect with the body, not through judgement, but through care - noticing sensations, the breath, and subtle ways we can bring ease. It also offers a space to acknowledge the emotional landscape of cancer, allowing difficult feelings to be held rather than suppressed. With practice, many find a little more space, a little more grounding, and a greater sense of being alongside themselves, rather than against. This three-session workshop series brings mindfulness gently into the context of cancer. Each session lasts 45 minutes and is held online, so you can take part from the comfort of your own home. We will explore simple practices for settling the nervous system, noticing the breath, and meeting thoughts with warmth rather than struggle. There will be time to share reflections if you wish, though silence and privacy are always respected. Across the three weeks, we’ll build a small toolkit you can draw on before appointments, during moments of uncertainty, or simply when you need to rest back into the present. These sessions are open to anyone living with or beyond cancer, as well as those supporting loved ones. No previous experience of mindfulness is needed - just a willingness to come as you are. Together, we will learn how small, steady practices can make a meaningful difference, offering moments of peace and connection right in the midst of it all.
